For this soap, I did something different and put my tree embeds in a bold black base, creating a striking black, red, and white colour combo. The fragrance of this soap is a star anise essential oil, which gives a lovely black liquorice aroma. Fun fact: even though it smells like liquorice, star anise and liquorice root aren’t botanically related—they just share a similar base note called "anethole". So, while I’ve named this soap "Liquorice Forest”, it’s really the star anise doing the magic! The red and white swirl has some quirky spots, but that’s just part of the handmade charm.
