This little bar may look like soap, but it is not soap.

Unlike my handmade soap bars, this conditioner bar is not made with lye and it does not go through the soapmaking process. It is a completely different type of product, made with plant-derived conditioning ingredients, mango butter, jojoba oil, and castor oil to help soften hair, add slip, and make combing easier after shampooing.

In plain English: soap is made to cleanse, while this bar is made to condition. The conditioning ingredients help the bar glide over wet hair and leave it feeling softer and easier to manage. The mango butter, jojoba oil, and castor oil add richness and smoothness without needing a plastic bottle.

These bars are colour-free and lightly fragranced with Ginger Peach fragrance oil. The scent is soft, fruity, and fresh without being overpowering.

To use, rub the bar directly onto wet hair after shampooing, massage throughout, then rinse well. Let the bar dry between uses to help it last longer.

A little more about the ingredients

The ingredient names may sound a bit technical, but each one has a simple job.

Cetyl Alcohol is not the drying kind of alcohol. It is a creamy, waxy fatty alcohol that helps make the bar solid, smooth, and easy to glide over wet hair.

Behentrimonium Methosulfate is the main conditioning ingredient. Even though the name sounds intense, it is not a harsh cleansing sulfate. It is used in hair-care products to help soften, smooth, reduce static, and make detangling easier.

Butylene Glycol is part of the conditioning blend and helps with the feel and performance of the bar.

Mango Butter, Jojoba Oil, and Castor Oil add richness, softness, and slip.

Parfum is the Ginger Peach fragrance oil.

Fragrance allergen note

This product contains fragrance components naturally present in the Ginger Peach fragrance oil, including Benzaldehyde, Benzyl Benzoate, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalool, and Pinene. Each is present in the finished product below the rinse-off disclosure threshold. The fragrance allergen statement lists Ginger Peach Fragrance Oil as INCI Parfum, with the highest listed component being Linalool at 0.7545% of the fragrance oil; at a 1% fragrance usage rate, that remains below 0.01% in the finished bar.

Directions

After shampooing, rub the bar directly onto wet hair. Massage throughout, then rinse well. Allow the bar to dry between uses.
