I’ve been working on something a little different from my usual soap bars: solid conditioner bars.
They may look a bit like soap at first glance, but they are not soap and they are not made with lye. They’re a completely different type of product, made with plant-derived conditioning ingredients, mango butter, jojoba oil, and castor oil to help soften hair, add slip, and make combing easier after shampooing.
Soap is made to cleanse. These bars are made to condition.
The ingredient names can sound a little technical, but the idea is simple: the conditioning ingredients help the bar glide over wet hair and leave hair feeling softer and easier to manage, while the butters and oils add richness and smoothness.
This first batch is colour-free and lightly fragranced with Ginger Peach fragrance oil. They’re compact, travel-friendly, and easy to let dry between uses.
To use, rub the bar directly onto wet hair after shampooing, massage throughout, then rinse well.
I’ve been testing this recipe and I’m really happy with how these turned out. They’re now available in the shop!
